ARTIST GIG FUND
According to a study released by Americans for the Arts in May, 95% of working artists in the United States experienced income loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic and 62% lost their jobs entirely. In Charlotte, many local artists are struggling to hang on.
Organized by Blumenthal Performing Arts and Charlotte Center City Partners, the Artist Gig Fund supports local artists who have been financially and emotionally impacted this year by providing them with paid opportunities to get in front of an audience again. Since early fall, the Artist Gig Fund has helped bring back activity and vibrancy to Uptown with free events like Revive the Vibe, Nerdy Night In, Sounds on the Square, Uptown Sweat, Acoustic Grace and more.
