Event Description
"Clara's Trip makes for an exhilaratingly fun night for families of all ages,” says Michelle Medina-Villalon (Critical Voice NC)
Created by North Carolina choreographer Caroline Calouche, Clara’s Trip is a contemporary twist on a holiday classic.
Clara is now in her mid-20s is at Mr. and Mrs. Flower’s holiday party. She loves to dance but is clumsy. Her two left feet get the best of her; and so she trips and sprains her ankle.
That night Clara dreams that her foot is healed, and she dances her heart out with her friends that have transformed into her get well gifts (gingerbread cookies, fish, monkeys, candy canes, bracelet, and a ballerina ornament on a bungee cord!).
Clara’s Trip includes an enchanting snow and flowers scene with aerial silks and athletic dancing. There is not a Rat King rather a battle scene that is a warped memory of her hospital trip with stilt dancers and youth dancers.
Full Show Run Time:
Act 1: 45 minutes
Intermission: 20 minutes
Act 2: 45 minutes
Children’s Show is a 1 hour show without an intermission that is great for young ages! The party scene is shortened, no large snow scene and Act 2 is shortened. It is still an action-packed show.
Children’s Show Run Time:
60 minutes without an intermission
