Building Services Lead

Position Summary

Under limited supervision, supervises and participates in custodial and routine cleaning of the Blumenthal facilities including any off-site venues, ensuring a safe, pleasant environment for staff, performers and the public. Performs related duties as required. Must be flexible with work hours as schedule may require nights, weekends and holidays. Reports to the Building Services Manager or Building Services Supervisor.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads general custodial and routine cleaning work as required in the maintenance of all facilities including but not limited to buffing, polishing, striping, refinishing, waxing, sealing floors; vacuuming and cleaning carpets; dust mopping; washing doors, windows and trim; cleaning and sanitizing restrooms; dusting office furniture and various other surfaces; cleaning air vents, etc.
  • Maintains supplies.
  • Completes weekly building services schedules for all team members.
  • Routinely reviews all event schedules and setups in Blumenthal facilities, including rental spaces.
  • Assigns Building Services staff duties, including instructing, assigning, reviewing and planning staff duties.
  • Maintains high standards.
  • Oversees work for completeness and accuracy; evaluates work, and makes recommendations as appropriate; offering training, advice and assistance as needed.
  • Performs event set up.
  • Maintains, inventories, and services tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Reports safety and maintenance conditions to supervisor.
  • Refers to policy and procedure manuals, equipment manuals, chemical manuals, etc.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, coworkers, staff of other departments, tenants, vendors, and the public.
  • Utilizes cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Operates a variety of maintenance equipment such as floor scrubber and buffer, floor stripper, vacuum, wet vacuum, leaf blower, and other necessary equipment.
  • Delivers supplies to business offices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by three to five years of facilities maintenance experience some of which has been in a supervisory capacity, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling
  • Also involved the lifting carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20 pounds), and occasionally heavier items (up to 50 pounds)
