Parking Associate - Part Time

Salary Range: Grade 10

Position Summary  

Responsible for selling parking at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center shows and events to patrons. Ensures patrons receive information about parking services that are offered.  

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Receive, count and balance money and exit passes accurately 

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 50% of shows scheduled  

  • Provide printed and verbal communication to patrons about parking services and locations  

  • Interact and communicate with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers and the general public in a professional manner 

  • Interact with patrons in giving directions and instructions; includes entrance/exit doors, coat check (if applicable), restrooms, water fountains, telephones, concessions, elevators, stairways, emergency stairways, parking, etc.  

  • Check Bank of America garage to ensure the parking sign is out and available 

  • Check-in with the LAZ supervisor to ensure they have proper staffing at the end of the show, reporting information back to the House Manager 

  • Maintain an understanding of the layout and floor plan for every level of theater 

  • Provide high level of customer service to all patrons/guests of BPA (cooperative, pleasant, flexible, friendly, courteous, helpful, etc.) 

  • Act as a representative of BPA while on duty and throughout the performance/event 

  • Maintain a clean work area (before, during, and after events), and reports any maintenance or housekeeping needs to the House Manager 

  • Listen to, and if possible, resolve patron complaints to the patron’s satisfaction; inform supervisor of all patron comments and complaints whether positive or negative 

  • Act to ensure the safety and security of all patrons/guests 

  • Assist patrons who require special attentions (such as patrons with disabilities) 

  • Interface with all departments as needed  

  • Assist with related operational duties as required  

Qualifications

Education and Experience  

  • Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by previous customer service experience, OR 

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Knowledge of parking operations and practices  

  • Skill in basic mathematics  

  • Ability to effectively communicate  

  • Dependability 

Physical Requirements  

  • Must be able to see and read parking tickets in low-level lighting  

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time  

  • Must be physically able to work in all areas of theaters including heights, stairs and uneven floors
