JERSEY BOYS SETS BOX OFFICE RECORD IN CHARLOTTE THREE WEEKS IN A ROW
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Tony®, Grammy® and Olivier® Award-winning musical JERSEY BOYS shattered sales records every week of its three-week engagement at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Belk Theater in Charlotte.
The mega hit broke the Belk Theater box office record for weekly sales for the third straight week April 18, its final day of engagement at the Belk.  The hit musical, part of the Duke Energy Broadway Lights Series presented by the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, grossed $1,265,665 for the week ending April 18, breaking the record the show set each of the previous two weeks when it  earned $1,164,813 in week one and $1,240,430 in week two. 
The show the New York Post called “Too Good To Be True” was the “Big Man in Town” earning an astonishing $3,670,908 during its three week Charlotte engagement, the highest  three- week gross in the Center’s history.  More than 47,500 fans saw the show during its inaugural appearance in the Queen city
“JERSEY BOYS has been a phenomenon since the show opened on Broadway and we were thrilled this season to have the national tour in Charlotte,” said Center President Tom Gabbard.  “This show is superb in every sense, boasting an incredible cast, outstanding production values, a heartfelt and engaging story and finally, the music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.  The show was an absolute delight for our local Broadway fans, and we can’t wait to bring it back again in the future.”
The inclusion of the show on the Center’s 2009/10 Duke Energy Broadway Lights season also helped to fuel exceptionally strong season subscription sales.  “The show certainly contributed to a very successful season for the Center,” Gabbard said, “but is also has contributed significantly to economic activity in the Center City over the past three weeks.  Having a blockbuster hit like this at the Belk drives cultural tourism, drawing visitors, as well as Charlotteans, into the Center City and that impacts restaurants, hotels and other businesses that support entertainment and tourism.”
The sold-out Charlotte engagement of JERSEY BOYS ran March 31 – April 18 in the Belk Theater.  The show was met with audience and critical acclaim.  The Charlotte Observer said “Irresistible 'Jersey' is a show for all (4) Seasons” and Arts a la Mode called JERSEY BOYS “A thoroughly entertaining musical that should not be missed.”
The cast of JERSEY BOYS is lead by Matt Bailey (Tommy DeVito), Joseph Leo Bwarie (Frankie Valli), original Broadway cast member Steve Gouveia (Nick Massi), Ryan Jesse (Bob Gaudio), with Charlotte-native Jonathan Hadley and Joseph Siravo.
The ensemble of JERSEY BOYS includes Michelle Aravena, Candi Boyd, Sarah Darling, Christopher DeAngelis, John Edwards, Graham Fenton, John Gardiner, Buck Hujabre, Denise Payne, Nathan Scherich, Brian Silverman, Courter Simmons, Ryan Strand, Kara Tremel, Mark Verdino and Kevin Worley.
