Charlotte, NC – You don’t have to go to Monterey to hear the best in jazz – the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is brining it here. The Monterey Jazz Festival has been a nexus for great jazz performances for over 50 years. Now the MONTEREY JAZZ FESTIVAL ON TOUR will play at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center’s Knight Theater Feb. 26, 2010.

Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 23 and can be purchased online at BlumenthalCenter.org, by phone at 704-372-1000, or from the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center Box Office located in the Tryon Street lobby of the Belk Theater.

This tour brings that Monterey magic to Charlotte, featuring a stunning combination of current jazz greats: Kenny Barron, “one of the top jazz pianists in the world,”according to the LA Times; violinist Regina Carter, who Time says “takes the listener into the future of jazz;” seven-time Grammy nominee Kurt Elling, whom the San Francisco Chronicle calls “the most flamboyantly creative jazz singer to emerge in the last decade;” and Russell Malone with what All About Jazz calls his “unique guitar voice.”
